Practice
In 1989, David, along with
Alick Ryder, Kevin Whitaker, now Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations
Board, and Pamela Chapman, founded the firm that is now RWBH.
During his 20+ years of practice,
David has acted for a broad range of union clients in a wide variety
of matters, in the industrial, public and education sectors.
David has particular experience
in privatization, successor rights and hospital merger cases, having
been successful counsel in a number of precedent setting cases in these
fields. He has also been counsel in ground breaking human rights cases,
including cases which have vastly expanded the remedies available to
employees who have been the victims of workplace discrimination.
In addition to his extensive
experience representing unions before labour boards and grievance arbitrators,
David is experienced in interest arbitration, health professions discipline
matters, LTD litigation, and judicial review proceedings, having appeared
before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal for Ontario.
David has been selected by
his peers for inclusion in the publication Best Lawyers in Canada
in the specialty of labour and employment law.
